A TRIBUTE TO STAN FREBERG

Dateline Altadena, CA:  In the early 50s, a young mother, unwilling to leave her two snotty nosed toddlers home with a stranger, plied her secretarial skills by having the work come to her.  An accomplished typist, she transcribed all manner of handwritten depositions, reports and stories into the typewritten word.

I’d like to say I can remember her clacking away on the old Royal pictured here (which currently resides in my garage cabinet) and I’d like to say I can remember her uproarious laughter as she transcribed for one particular client, but I can’t.  I was only about 18 months old at the time.  I do know that Mom recalls when she typed for this fellow, she laughed.

Thanks for making Mom laugh, Stan Freberg.
